Student Awards & Recognition


Starting in the school year 2019-2020, ECHS is proud to recognize some of our outstanding students for their commitment to academics and community service.


Academic Excellence Awards

GPA-based awards for students who achieve a 3.6 or higher. The GPA used to determine eligibility is the academic weighted GPA. These awards will be given at the conclusion of each semester. Funding for Academic Excellence Awards has been generously donated by the El Camino Wildcat Foundation.


Award for Academic Excellence

Recognizes students who earn a GPA of 3.6-3.99


Award for Academic Excellence with Distinction

Recognizes students who earn a GPA of 4.0+



Perfect Attendance

Recognizes students who have maintained perfect attendance throughout the entire school year. Perfect attendance is defined as having missed zero days of school, excused or unexcused, with the exception of school-related absences (e.g. field trips, school-related conferences, team sports-related absences). This award will be given once per school year, in June.



Graduating with Honors

Honors students must meet the following rigorous standards:

  • Students must take at least four Advanced Placement (AP) courses.
    • 1 English, 1 Math or Science and 2 others
  • Students must complete a minimum of 50 hours of community service.  Documentation of these hours may begin in the freshman year and must be completed by the end of the 7th semester.
  • 9-12 Academic GPA of 3.6 or higher (not including PE or TA classes) by end of the 7th semester.
  • Students must complete an autobiographical essay during the senior year, based on the UC application guidelines.
  • C’s or higher at the 2nd-semester 12-week progress report of the senior year.

*Honors Graduates wear a white robe and receive a gold cord for commencement.
